Call for Challenges
January 27-28, 2020

AMLD and machine learning challenges have been strongly connected since the first day of the conference. Indeed, presentations of machine learning challenge results have been a staple of AMLD since the very beginning. However, we did not have a formal challenge track so far, something we are now changing.

We are happy to announce the first AMLD challenge track, to take place at AMLD2020! If you are interested in running a cutting-edge machine learning challenge and present the outcome at AMLD, we invite you to send us your proposal by Friday, April 12th, 2019 (in any time zone).

The competition track will take place during AMLD2020, on January 27 & 28, 2020, at EPFL in Switzerland. Selected challenges are invited to present and discuss results during an assigned time slot of the track. Discussions with publishers to invite organizers and participants to contribute to a publication of the challenges are ongoing.

To submit your challenge, please send a single document (PDF) to challenges@appliedMLdays.org, describing the challenge. Your document does not have to follow any specific format, but should address the following points:

  • Organizer
A brief description of the team, and of any challenge experience the team may have.
  • Challenge description
A general overview of the challenge, what problem it should solve, and how it will be run.
  • Challenge impact
Explain the significance of the task and describe the potential impact of the challenge, provide a brief overview of existing work in the area of the challenge, and describe the current baseline solution to the problem addressed.
  • Challenge structure
Describe the structure of the challenge, i.e. what (if anything) you provide in terms of data, what you provide in terms of the evaluation framework, what you ask the participants to submit, and the timeline of the challenge
  • Challenge evaluation
Tell us how the submissions will be evaluated and the reasons for the evaluation scheme.
  • Resources
    Prizes, computing resources, etc.

(Note that the NeurIPS2019 challenge application format is acceptable - simply update dates / conference name / other items as needed).

Send your proposal (PDF) with contact information to challenges@appliedMLdays.org by Friday, April 12th, 2019 (in any time zone).
Decisions will be communicated by April 18th, 2019.
